I am constantly being asked what knives I would recommend for a customer
In the store I am constantly being asked what knives I would recommend to a customer. This is a very difficult question for me because we want customers to try each knife before we make comments. When a customer is looking for one knife we recommend a chef knife. This knife will do 85% of all your knife use including chopping and carving. All the knives we carry will last a lifetime but each one will feel different in your hands.Victorinox knives are produced from a stamped piece of high carbon stainless steel. By injection molding on a handle the company keeps the cost of manufacturing low. A Victorinox 8" Chef will cost approx. $50.00. Many chefs that come into the store report that they still use the Victorinox knives they got 25 years ago at chef school. If you are looking for a good knife and you are on a budget this knife might be for you.The Miyabi knife line is the latest addition to our inventory. The Miyabi S line offers customers a full tang knife with good balance and high quality Japanese steel. The Miyabi D line is a knockout for looks, balance and overall feel. With its demascus steel blade and beautiful black handle with red highlite this knife will be a winner for looks and performance in your kitchen.Global knives offer consumers superior japanese steel and perfect balance with sand in the handle. These astheticly pleasing knives are perfect for people that are looking for a light weight knife and superior performance.Shun is a recent entry into the North American Knife market. These knives are made from high carbon damascus steel with Pakkawood handles. For those of you that understand that quality knives need to be looked after, will fall in love with these knives. When you are in, make sure you try the Ken Onion line of knives. They take functionality to the next level.Wusthof knives continue to be produced in Solingen Germany. The reason I say continue is that for the past 197 years, Wusthof has resisted moving production outside of Solingen to save cost. Wusthof manufactures knives with full tangs and bolsters. If you are looking for a knife for a student or that special chef, Wusthof has a knife for you. Wusthof knives will not need professional sharpening for up to 4 years if you use a honing steel regularly.Remember at Entertaining Elements we do not recommend a particular knife until you have tried them all. Each knife is different in feel and performance. We make sure you leave our store with the knife that fits your needs and we will make sure it stays sharp. Knife sharpening is free when you need it. That will be years from now. Check out our knife skills class. We don't turn you into a chef but you will know how to use your knife and be able to care for it.
